If your filter is floating, then there is too much water in the fountain. The "fill line" in Catit fountains is actually a bit too high, which is misleading. Remove some water and the filter won't float anymore.
That's not directly related to our filters. Pink (or any color) slime is a biofilm that is caused by pet's saliva. Old cats especially have excessive saliva because it's common for older cats to have periodontal disease, and often times have kidney issues causing them to drink more frequently. Disassemble and deep clean the fountain with concentrated dish soap, a clean sponge, and bottle brushes for hard to reach places, once a week.
Check the fountain for the name brand which should be printed on it. If it's not printed, or a different brand, then it's not a Catit fountain. Catit fountains will always have the Catit name brand printed right on the water reservoir itself.
In most cases, this is due to shipping. Just rinse well before use.
PETSTANDARD Replacement Filters are compatible with Catit® Design Senses, Flower, Senses 2.0 and Fresh & Clear Stainless Steel Water Fountains. They are NOT COMPATIBLE with the Catit Mini & PIXI™ Fountain.
These filters are about 5.75 inches in diameter and about 1.5 inches thick.
To prevent the activated carbon dust from shedding into water, please soak the filter in water for 10 minutes then rinse thoroughly under running water before using.
Replace the filter every 1 to 2 weeks in summer and 2 to 4 weeks in winter. If multiple cats are using the fountain, more frequent replacement will be necessary.
